Tonight I'm blogging on the sweetest giant that pretty much saved a friend of mine from self destruction.
A few months ago my friend (we'll call him Matt) found out that he was heading for or has cirrhosis of the liver. He drank cheap, sweet wine from morning 'til night. His business had gone down the tubes and he struggled with depression. Of course this was all blurred through the constant alcohol abuse.
Something gave me an idea while shopping one morning, to encourage Matt to go with me to the stables. I wanted him to be in a different environment and I wanted him to meet Twister. This big, bay, thoroughbred gelding just can't get enough of people. Matt agreed to go with me which surprised me simply because he didn't show any interest in anything and he was really struggling with depression and he was in pain.

Off we went to the shop for carrots and straight to the stables before Matt changed his mind. I introduced Matt to Twister who was just wondering around the whole stableyard. Matt sat on a rock while Twister began his magic, I went off to work with my mare. Matt was laughing and really enjoying the attention from this ginormous horse. Finally I turned to check on them because it suddenly became a little quiet, Matt had dissolved into tears.
The emotion was quite something.
Meet Doctor Twister...............

Matt visited Twister regularly. He would just sit with him for ages feeding him carrots.
Today Matt hasn't had a drop of alcohol for about four to five months. He's looking healthier and his business has picked up.
Twister saved Matt in so many ways with no words, just his breath and presence.
